The University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that was approved shortly after WW2 in 1945 and welcomed its first class in 1951. The David Geffen School of Medicine has a partnership with Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science to help meet the needs of the underserved. DGSOM was ranked in the Top 10 (according to U.S. News and World Report) in training African-American students. UCLA gives students the opportunity to participate in giving back to the LA community and to participate in research with renowned faculty, all while living in LA.
