Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University is a 4-year MD-granting program that matriculated its first class in 1976. Boonshoft School of Medicine works to cultivate a community of support, collaboration, and encouragement. Each year, the MS2 class writes a funny/helpful First Year Survival Guide for the incoming class. Boonshoft School of Medicine is a community-based medical school that has six teaching hospitals. This allows students to see a diverse range of patients, providing a snapshot of real world experience. There are many community service program that students participate in, including the Reach Out Clinic, Student to Student, a NOLA Service Trip, and many others. Boonshoft SOM requires students to complete service-learning during their time in medical school as part of a commitment to live a life of service.

To educate culturally diverse students to become excellent physicians by focusing on generalist training that is integrated, supported, and strengthened by specialists and researchers, all of whom value patient-focused care, community service, and research, and have passion for improving health in their communities.
