University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Reviews
Overview
The University of Oklahoma School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that started as a two-year medical school in 1900 and became a 4-year medical school in 1910. The University of Oklahoma School of Medicine is dedicated to the residents of Oklahoma—at least 75 percent of the class is made up of Oklahoma residents. OU School of Medicine wants to make sure students stay connected to their love of medicine, and they use art and literature to facilitate this. Students publish a journal called Blood and Thunder: Musings on the Art of Medicine. Every year there is an Anatomical Donor Luncheon, which pairs students with a family member of their cadaver lab donor to learn about the donor. At the end of the second year, all students are assigned a faculty mentor in their desired specialty to make sure students have support and advice.
