About University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville
Overview
The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its inaugural class in 2012. The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville was built out of the need for more physicians in the state of South Carolina. South Carolina ranks 37th for the number of physicians per 100,000 people. The University of South Carolina Greenville takes a unique approach to the curriculum: Students become certified EMTs and spend approximately 12 hours each month serving the community as an EMT. In addition, lifestyle medicine is integrated into all four years of the curriculum. Students complete their clinical rotations at Prisma Health-Upstate, the largest regional healthcare in South Carolina, and can seek out research opportunities there, as well.
