The Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its first class in 2017. The Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine is a community-based medical school with a strong commitment to Washington residents, especially underserved residents. Students receive a personalized education from a mentor who helps to personalize each student’s curriculum. Students also have the opportunity to learn in clinical environments near many WSU locations within their first year. In addition, all students must complete a scholarly project during their four years at Washington State.
Mission
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine will be a unique resource for the State of Washington, converging on solutions to the health care triple aim of improving the patient experience of care, keeping populations healthy, and decreasing the cost of care, all while improving the work life of health care providers. Through a culture based on valuing the individual, we will be resourceful, agile, inventive and generous in serving the people of the state and beyond, to develop healthier populations through research, innovation, interprofessional education and patient-centered care.
