Overview​

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its first students in 1943. UT Southwestern is committed to diversity, and 24.8 percent of their class are underrepresented in medicine. The curriculum allows for students to pursue their own interests by offering avenues of distinction in a number of areas. The Academic Colleges allow for specialized faculty mentorship for students. There are over 100 electives for students to choose from during their time as medical students. The curriculum is given through different modes of team-based, small-group, lab, and simulation learning. Over 80 percent of clinical training is done at the Parkland Hospital. Students are also very involved in many different campus clubs. There are educational, honorary, international/cultural, recreational, religious, service, social, and student government clubs.
