Overview​

The West Virginia University School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its charter class in 1972. The School of Medicine has a focus on rural health experiences, and many of their graduates choose rural medicine to help meet the physician needs of the state. The school currently ranks 13th in rural medicine training. There are over 60 research labs at WVU, and they have an R1 research designation. The West Virginia University School of Medicine offers four specialized tracks for students: global health, rural health, culinary and lifestyle medicine, and an accelerated curriculum (3.5 years). Students at West Virginia University School of Medicine complete an average of 100 hours of community service by the time they graduate.

Right now, Carlos Tapia, former Director of Admissions at TCU and former Director of Student Affairs at Icahn Mount Sinai, and Courtney Lewis, former Director of Admissions at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine are the two advisor who have remaining availability.
