Boston University School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that traces its roots back to the Boston Female Medical College, which welcomed its first class in 1848. The Boston Female Medical College merged officially in 1874 with Boston University. The School of Medicine values a warm, welcoming environment at their university. Strong collaborative relationships are established between students. Strong collegial relationships are also emphasized between faculty and students. The Boston Medical Center is the primary teaching hospital, home to the busiest Emergency Department in the Northeast.

Harvard Medical School is a 4-year MD-granting program and one of the oldest medical schools in the United States. Harvard’s MD program has two curricular tracks, Pathways and Health Sciences & Technology (HST). The Pathways program offers earlier clinical experience and allows each student to choose a scholarly project to customize their pathway to their MD degree. The HST pathway is to prepare students for a career in biomedical research or molecular science. HMS offers students the ability to carry out research in basic and clinical sciences. Tufts University School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its first class in 1893. The School of Medicine recently change their curriculum to include four concentrations: Healthcare Systems, Population Health, The Patient Experience, and Personal and Professional Development. Tufts offers a friendly, diverse environment for students. Beginning in 2019, Tufts will have learning communities in which small groups of students are paired with a faculty coach. In addition, all students are involved in the Community Service-Learning program.

The University of Massachusetts School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its first class in 1970. The UMass School of Medicine offers a population-based urban and rural program for students. The curriculum has a longitudinal curriculum with three interrelated blocks. UMass has a robust student life and support system. They offer multiple wellness committees, ranging from academic wellness to emotional wellness. Student resources include peer mentoring, student counseling services, and others.
