Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine is a 4- year MD-granting program that welcomed its inaugural class in 2011. The Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine wants students to learn the sciences in terms of patient care, patient cases, and clinical skills practice. Therefore, student lecture time is limited to 10 hours a week. Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is a 4-year MD-granting program that defines itself as a community-based medical school. The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine trains students to provide patient-centered care, learn the social determinants of health, and be socially accountable physicians. The College of Medicine has a partnership that allows students to do service-learning by interacting with different households and communities in the area to help overcome access barriers. The service-learning course also gives students the chance to interact with other students in the nursing, social work, physician assistant, law, and education fields.

The Florida State College of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that was created to service Floridians, especially those in underserved areas. At FSU College of Medicine, students spend their first two years in Tallahassee, then spend their third and fourth years at one of the regional medical school campuses. There are regional campuses in Orlando, Pensacola, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Daytona Beach, and Fort Pierce, with rural sites in Immokalee, Marianna, and Thomasville, Georgia.

The University of Central Florida College of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that was built from the ground up in 2006 and welcomed its charter class in 2009. The College of Medicine offers a unique curriculum in which the sciences are taught integrated with problem solving and clinical cases. UCF College of Medicine is a research-based medical school, and during the first two years students will participate in the Focused Inquiry and Research Experience program. The location of Lake Nona gives students the ability to take a break from studies with a nature preserve, walking paths, and student lounges and gyms. Also, Orlando offers entertainment and many popular theme parks.

The University of Florida College of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that welcomed its inaugural class in 1956. The College of Medicine has an emphasis on training humanistic, patient-centered, professional physicians. All UF students participate in service-learning during their first year of medical school. They also expose students early to patients in rural, urban, and suburban settings. The College of Medicine has three student-run clinics and provides physician mentors to students.

The University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program and the oldest medical school in the state of Florida. The Miller School of Medicine is one of the few schools that offer a 4-year MD/MPH program and reserve 48 of their 198 spots for those students. Students begin clinical exposure within their first few weeks of medical school and have access to over 90 clinic sites during their first two years. Third- and fourth-year students have access to six hospitals with nearly 3,000 teaching beds. The UM-Jackson Memorial Hospital Medical Center is the second busiest medical center in the country. Miami provides a place where students can explore culture and big-city life.

The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is a 4-year MD-granting program that offers two different MD programs to students. MD Core is based in Tampa for four years, whereas MD Select requires two years in Tampa with the next two in Pennsylvania and offers a certificate in Leadership, Health Systems, and Values-Based, Patient-Centered Care. The College of Medicine offers students 11 scholarly concentrations, opportunities for student research, and a number of organizations to join.

Nova Southeastern University Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine is a 4-year DO-granting program that works to train compassionate physicians who are advocates for diverse populations. Sixty percent of graduates work in rural or underserved areas, and 70 percent of graduates enter a primary care field. The curriculum requires that students do a clinic rotation in a rural area.
